Local Handmade Nesting habits for Mason and Leafcutter bees. Solitary non- stinging beneficial pollinators that will visit up to 2000 blooms per day.

If you are thinking about getting a nesting habitat for the native bees in your garden then have a look at what I will be posting over the next few days. WeeBeeHouse makes 4 different styles that allow for you to provide a predator free environment for them to nest in.

Supplied are stacking nesting trays (instead of reeds or tubes which should be replaced yearly) that allows for the harvesting of the cocoons for which I supply a tool. The harvested cocoons are placed in the upper chamber allowing them to hibernate for the winter in a safe environment. Harvesting the cocoons provides an opportunity to clean the trays of any debris or pollen mites providing a healthy nesting environment. Instructions are also included as well as a mounting screw.

House:

Contains a stacking nesting trays

Instructions are also included as well as a mounting screw.

Barn:

Joe's (WeeBeeHouse Maker) personal favourite nesting habitat to make because of the challenge the roof provides. "It consists of compound angles that during assembly were the source of a lot frustration. Many early versions ended up in the fireplace. Jigs and a time tested assembly procedure eventually led to a detailed look. My wife often enters my shop while I am working and reminds me that I am not building reproduction Chippendale furniture." This style carries over features from my other models and comes with stacking nesting trays , harvesting tool, mounting screw and instructions.

Villa:

"Most people comment they like the shape of the roof. I remind them the exterior details are for you, the bees are only interested in the nesting trays. Features that carry through the habitats are the roof overhang and a landing ramp . The roof overhang helps to keep the nesting trays protected from rain. The landing ramp helps with navigation if it is breezy" (Joe - Maker).

This style has a slide out tray for storing the cocoons in winter. It has a hole in the front which allows the bees to emerge from at the start of their season. Instructions, harvesting tool and a mounting screw are included.

Tower:

This style is 2 sided providing plenty of nesting capacity. The roof can be removed exposing a hibernation chamber where the cocoons can overwinter safe from predators. A cocoon harvesting tool, mounting screw and instructions are included.
